The following are the
"ideal" requirements for a theater performance
of "A Slippery Universe...". There is certainly an understanding
that some of these requirements may not be able to be met by all
theaters. Upon your review, please make a note of any concerns with
these requirements and we will do our absolute best to provide you
with an alternative solution.
I. STAGE
- Stage
dimensions (minimum): 25 deep x 35 wide x 15+
high (trim height).
- The set consists
of vinyl flooring (16 diameter) and five hanging canvas
drops; each @ 55" wide with a trim height of 15
(see: set photo). Three open battens are required, to hang and
fly drops, in and out during the performance.
- The stage needs to
be made available to Kenny Ahern a minimum of 24 hours prior to
performance for set-up, rehearsal time and technical cue
to cue.
- The stage cannot be
used by any other attraction or event once Kenny has begun to
set up, until after the final performance and removal
of all performance equipment.
- The entire backstage
area, and wings must be cleared of all props, equipment and debris.
- Stage must be deemed
safe and acceptable-no splinters, exposed hardware or loose traps.The
stage will need to be swept and damp mopped prior to each performance.
- If there is an orchestra
pit, it needs to be covered for performance and safety reasons.
- Easy accessibility
on and off stage to house, stage right and left.
- A scaled house and
stage plan provided to Kenny Ahern no less than ninety(90) days
prior to arrival.
II. EQUIPMENT (Provided
by Presenter)
- Fog machine and
fluid, with a chilling unit (if possible). The fog machine must
be able to fill stage quickly with low lying fog or fog
wash. Haze machine is also an option.
- One 6 "heavy
industrial grade" fiberglass step ladder, in good condition,
provided for performance use.
- Two 6x3 cafeteria
style tables needed; one merchandise table and one backstage for
props.
III. LIGHTING (Provided
by Presenter)
- A Basic
"Hanging Plot" will be provided a minimum of ninety(90)
days prior to performance.
- Maximum of 30 lighting
cues (venue specific).
- Lights must be
roughed prior to Kennys arrival.
- Lights must not be
moved or adjusted after theyve been set for the performance.
- House lights dimming
capabilities.
- Gels (actual number
is venue specific): Roscolux-R33, R35, R36, R48, R51, R64, R71
- Lighting instruments
(actual number is venue specific): 14-6x9 ERS, 4-PAR 64,
- 13-6" Fresnel,
and strip lights to accommodate entire cyclorama wash.
IV. SOUND (Provided
by Presenter)
- A suitable sound
system (size of system is venue specific). Basic sound requirements;
amplifier, 8 channel stereo mixer, two speakers, one floor
monitor and one floor mic.
- Kenny will provide
a MiniDisc player and digital sampler- with patch cords (XLR &
1/4").
- Maximum of 25 sound
cues (venue specific).
- Two way communication
for all technicians.
V. DRAPERY
- Act curtain
- White cyc or flat
sky drop preferredif not available, a black or red back
drape can be used.
- Enough masking to
hide backstage area from audience.
VI. DRESSING ROOM
- A clean private
room with easy access to stagenot used by the public, with
toilet, sink, hot & cold running water and shower.
- Dressing room must
be a secured space before, during and following the performance.
- Request; four quarts
of bottled water, assorted chilled soda & juices and a deli
tray or pizza for Kenny and crew.
VII. PERSONNEL
(Provided by Presenter)
- One person
familiar with the entire operations of the venue with decision
making power must be present the entire time that Kenny is
working (set-up, perform, strike).

- Experienced
Technical Support Crew. All technicians and support crew must
attend full technical cue to cue and work all performance(s).
Backstage prop crew will also help with set-up and strike.
- One Stage Manager
- One Lighting technician
(assistants provided as required by house or technicians)
- One Sound technician
(assistants provided as required by house or technicians)
- Three(3) backstage
prop/fly persons.
- All necessary personnel
to properly handle "front of house" operations, including
ticket sales, ushering, personnel for handling publicity
and promotions.
- Kenny will arrive
at theater a minimum of 24 hours prior to performance. Venue familiar
personnel should be there upon his scheduled arrival.
- If a boutique is
presented, two people will be needed to manage sales in theater
lobby; before and after performance and at intermission.
VIII. MISCELLANEOUS
- AVAILABLE
PERFORMANCE LENGTH: 60-90 MINUTES. When presenting an eighty(80)
to ninety(90) minute performance, a minimum 15 minute
intermission is required. The actual performance time
must be designated in contract.
- A full technical
guide including; lighting and stage plot and technical cue sheets
will be provided no later than ninety(90) days prior to
performance.
- Set-up and Technical
cue to cue should take no longer than three hours (with lights
already roughed). Approximately ninety(90) minutes to strike
and load-out.
- Load in/out and parking
access and pass for van/truck must be provided as close as possible
to venue.
- Assorted photos an
color slides and press kit are available to Presenter. 100 color
promotional posters are providedvenue specific
imprinting is Presenters responsibility. Program copy
is provided in
technical guide and printed at Presenters cost.
- Four Complimentary
tickets (house seats) available to performance(s) for Kenny Aherns
guests. If tickets are not needed, they will be released
24 hours prior to performance.
- House staff must
clear with Kenny before opening house. House will open a minimum
of 30 minutes before show time.
